BT FIREPRO-TEC® – Fire Resistant Cables

Bare and Flexible Copper Conductors 0.75 to 4.0 mm2,
Silicon insulation and Halogen-free Sheath, Screened and Unscreened

1. Application
All Fire Resistant cables are suitable for Security, Safety, Control and Instrumentation with special requirements for circuit integrity in case of a fire.

2. Fire Resistance confirming with BS6387 CWZ:
Fire Resistant to BS 6387, Cat. C: exposed to fire at 950°C for 3 hours
Fire Resistant to BS 6387, Cat. W: exposed to fire at 650°C for 15 minutes, then exposed to fire at 650°C with water for 15 minutes
Fire Resistant to BS 6387, Cat. Z: exposed to fire at 950°C for 15 minutes, then exposed to fire at 950°C with mechanical shock for 15 minutes

3. Fire Retardancy confirming with IEC 60332-3-24 (was 3C)

4. Basic Construction of the cables
Wire = Conductor with Insulation
Conductor: solid bare copper wires, ranging from 0.75 to 2.5 mm² and the 4.0 mm² conductor consists of stranded bare copper wires = flexible

Insulation: Silicon Rubber blends acc. to BS 7655. Good strippable and coloured insulation. The colours are not interchangeable. Colour scheme:
2 cores: brown – blue,
3 cores: brown – black – grey,
4 and more cores: brown – blue – black – grey – others black numbered.

Cable core: two or more cores, twisted.
Good twisting is necessary otherwise the cable can hardly be bending and will break after a few bends.

Drain wire (only in combination with a screen): solid bare copper.

Screen (if applicable): Helically applied (= as a spiral) Aluminium/Polyester (Alpet) foil. For the flexibility of a cable a helically applied foil is to be preferred. A longitudinally applied foil act more as a stiff tube = more difficult to bend.

Sheath: red HFFR in accordance with BS EN 50290-2

Operating temperature range: -20 to +90 °C.

Rated Voltage: 300/500 Vrms
